چکیده
Abstract Background People with diabetes mellitus, especially insulin-dependent diabetic patients, are a risk group for staphylococcal infections. Asymptomatic infection Staphylococcus aureus is common and favors dissemination of the microorganism, rendering these individuals source infection. This study aimed to characterize resistance profile, clonal profile sequence type, as well analyze prevalence factors nasal oropharyngeal carriage methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) methicillin-resistant S. (MRSA) isolated from in city Botucatu, SP, Brazil. Methods was collected nasopharynx oropharynx 312 community-dwelling over period 3 years (October 2015 December 2018). The isolates were characterized by susceptibility profiling, detection mec A gene, SCC typing, molecular typing PFGE MLST. associated MRSA determined logistic regression analysis. Results overall colonization 30.4% 4.8%, respectively. Fifteen 112 carried gene; type IV identified 10 isolates, I three, II two. Among 15 resistant (MRSA), four susceptible oxacillin/cefoxitin disc diffusion method one MSSA isolate sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim. analysis revealed protective effect age lung disease, while lower-extremity ulcers factor . For MRSA, only male gender significantly multivariate Clonal demonstrated formation clusters among different identification ST5-IV, ST5-I, ST8-IV. Isolates carrying ST398 (ST398-IV). Conclusion Our findings reinforce importance epidemiological studies carriage, populations at high infections such diabetics. data suggest widespread population patients studied, emergence important lineages individuals.

Background & Objective: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is reported as one of the important bacterial causes of burn wound infections. This study was carried out to investigate molecular characterization of community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) isolated from Iranian burn patients. Methods: A total of 31 isolates of S. aureus<...
متن کاملMolecular Characteristics of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Isolated from Diabetic Foot Infection
Background & Objective: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), is one of the most frequent causes for hospitalizations in patients with diabetes. A major problem in the treatment of DFU is the increased-incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The aim of this study was to determine the SCCmec types of MRSA isolates and their epidemiology among pati...
متن کاملMolecular characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates in Korea.
We used several molecular typing methods to analyze 196 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and 139 methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) isolates collected between 1996 and 2005. The sequence type 72 MRSA has increased in frequency in the community in the Republic of Korea and in hospitals in recent years.
متن کاملDetection of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus by Phenotypical and Molecular Methods among Clinical Isolates
Abstract Background and Objective: Increasing prevalence of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains (MRSA) with their multidrug resistance potential causes difficulties in the treatment of infections due to these bacteria. Hence, the detection and determination of the frequency of MRSA strains via phenotypical and molecular methods is necessary in different parts of the county. ...
متن کاملMethicillin-Susceptible, Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Brazil.
We report characterization of a methicillin-susceptible, vancomycin-resistant bloodstream isolate of Staphylococcus aureus recovered from a patient in Brazil. Emergence of vancomycin resistance in methicillin-susceptible S. aureus would indicate that this resistance trait might be poised to disseminate more rapidly among S. aureus and represents a major public health threat.
